Matterhorn Mountain, Skyway and Coca-Cola Sign

Disneyland
The Magic Kingdom (In California)

Matterhorn Mountain
The mighty Matterhorn rises above Tomorrowland, where unique new transportation systems offer an exciting preview of the future.

This postcard is postmarked in 1971 with a USA 6 cent stamp.

The sender writes:
I had so much fun at Disneyland.  We rode all the rides we could or wanted to ride then we went and saw the free things like "America the Beautiful".  It's a tour of America in a panoramic view.   The people that did this film took 9 cameras and put them on a platform so you can see where you're going and also where you had been.  It was really fascinating.  I will write some more soon.

When Disneyland first opened you paid a fee of $1.00 to get in, but if you wanted to go on a ride, you needed to purchase a ticket for the price of that ride.

The Skyway was a gondola lift attraction at Disneyland, at the Magic Kingdom, and at Tokyo Disneyland.

The Skyway at Disneyland opened on June 23, 1956. It was built by Von Roll, Ltd. based in Bern, Switzerland and was the first Von Roll Type 101 aerial ropeway in the USA. The Disneyland Skyway was removed on November 9, 1994 due to stress cracks and in 1998, Tokyo Disneyland closed its Skyway.
